The National Association of Seadogs popularly known as Pyrates Confraternity has begun a free medical outreach and support at the Ukpong Atai community and Primary Healthcare Centre in Akpabuyo local council in Cross River State.
The outreach, which was held at the Community Secondary School was part of NAS quarterly meeting activities, a project that serves as corporate social responsibility to the society.
Speaking during the outreach, the National President of Seadogs, Dr Joseph Otere, said the mission is targeted at providing essential health support to communities that are yet to receive adequate health support from the government.
He said the initiative to dig a borehole in the primary healthcare came as a gesture when the group visited the centre and the staff complained about the lack of clean water supply.
Expressing gratitude, the Clan Head of Ukpong Atai, His Royal Highness, Etinyin Archibong, thanked the association for choosing his community as one of the beneficiaries of their quarterly medical outreach intervention.
He appealed to NAS to always consider using his community for their numerous social responsibility projects. Some of the beneficiaries thanked the organisation for bringing healthcare services to their doorsteps and providing primary healthcare with a water facility.
Also speaking, Makamba Archibong, expressed joy, stating that she has been wishing for such an opportunity to get her eyes checked, she thanked the organisation for giving her glasses to aid her vision.
