The Nordica Fertility Centre, Lagos, hosted the 2024 Physicians Round Table (PRT) providing opportunities for health workers to unwind, learn and network.
In his opening remarks, the CEO of Nordica Fertility Centre, Dr Abayomi Ajayi, disclosed that the evening of unwinding and networking was held regularly before COVID came and stopped it. He said it is not just to share clinical knowledge but also an opportunity to ask questions and relax.
He added that there are a lot of opportunities in Nigeria that are not being explored and other nationals are coming to the country to take them with Nigerians want to fly out.
He said health workers need to pay attention to financial literacy as it is critical to having a successful career.
“The second is collaboration, doctors are poor in collaboration, doctors are not coming together to work together. The last is mentoring. The older ones should not be afraid to pass the baton to the younger ones and the younger ones should respect the older ones. We need to cultivate the mentoring policy very serious.”
Thereafter, Dr Victor Ajayi gave a talk around fertility saying that one in four young couples will experience delay in achieving pregnancy. He said a lady below 35 should seek help after trying to get pregnant for one year while those above 35 should seek help after six months.
Providing insight about improvement in assisted reproductive technology/ techniques, he said the technology can help in genotype selection during conception.
He disclosed that infrequent ejaculation can lead to DNA damage that can affect fertility level
Dr Tope Olowogbayi spoke on fibroid and adenomyosis and HIFU treatment for fibroid and adenomyosis.
