Club donates health equipment to LUTH oncology ward

As part of its commitment to improving healthcare delivery, the Yaba Lions Club, District 404-A3 Nigeria, has donated essential medical supplies to the Oncology Ward of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos.

The donation, which took place recently at the hospital premises, included a range of critical items such as oxygen gauges, drip stands, patient baskets, sanitary liquids, antiseptic supplies, and several packs of Accu-Chek strips used in monitoring blood glucose levels.

These items are expected to support the day-to-day operations of the Oncology Ward and enhance the quality of care provided to cancer patients.

Speaking during the presentation, the Second Vice President of the Yaba Lions Club, Abdul Ojo, who handed over the items on behalf of the club, noted that the initiative was part of the club’s ongoing humanitarian and health intervention programmes.

According to him, the club has over the years undertaken various impactful projects that focus on key areas such as childhood cancer, diabetes screening, disaster relief, vision care and recovery, environmental sustainability, and welfare support, including food drives and public health awareness campaigns.

He added that the latest donation is the signature project of the Club President for the 2024/2025 Lions year, Festus Nkwocha, who was represented by Ojo, and accompanied by other dedicated members of the Lions and Leos community.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital management, the Chief Matron of the Oncology Ward, Mrs Agboluaje, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture. She praised the Yaba Lions Club for its consistent support of the health sector and emphasised that the donation would go a long way in improving service delivery to patients battling cancer.

She noted that the donation is timely and will make a real difference in the lives of patients and support the work of healthcare staff dedicated to saving lives.
