The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Ibadan, has enrolled its entire student body in the Geneith Health Competition (GHC), a pioneering initiative aimed at combating malaria in Nigeria.
The move reflects the institution’s commitment to improving health awareness and empowering students to become advocates for disease prevention.
The GHC, organised by CEOAFRICA, sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited, and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, is dedicated to malaria education, advocacy, and youth empowerment. Students will gain vital knowledge about prevention, treatment, and awareness while becoming active health ambassadors in their communities.
The flag-off ceremony was held on September 16, 2025, at the college conference room and attended by the school management, health sector stakeholders, and other dignitaries.
Since its national launch on May 2, 2025, by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the GHC has attracted widespread support, including endorsements from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
Acting Provost of FCAH&PT, Dr. Chidi Nweze Okpeze, described the initiative as “a significant step towards empowering students and inspiring them to contribute positively to the health of our nation,” noting its alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s healthcare revitalisation agenda.
MD/CEO of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, revealed that Geneith Pharmaceuticals has committed N1 billion to the project, including N420 million for scholarships and cash prizes.
He stressed that 96% of illnesses reported in school clinics are malaria-related, making student involvement crucial.
Student leaders also pledged full participation, calling the initiative “a life-changing opportunity” to fight malaria.
Registration for the competition is ongoing until February 15, 2026, via www.geneithhealthcompetition.com.
