Geneith Health competition: Youth to drive malaria fight in Nigeria

The Geneith Health Competition (GHC) is set to empower Nigerian youth as ambassadors in the battle against malaria, aiming to make the disease a thing of the past.

Organized by CEOAFRICA, sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Ltd., and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, the initiative encourages students from secondary and tertiary institutions to engage in malaria awareness and prevention efforts within their schools and communities.

The competition provides a structured platform for participants to raise awareness about malaria and promote effective prevention strategies. With substantial cash prizes at stake, students are motivated to excel and disseminate critical knowledge throughout their communities.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, said the Geneith Health Competition is not just a contest but a movement that empowers youth to take ownership of their health and that of their communities. He called on all young individuals to join this vital initiative, urging: “Together, as youth ambassadors, we can make malaria a thing of the past in Nigeria.”

Managing Director of Geneith Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Emmanuel Umenwa, emphasised the importance of youth engagement, noting that Nigerian youth must be at the forefront of battling malaria. According to him, by equipping them with knowledge, a network of health ambassadors can be created to drive change.

As malaria remains a significant public health challenge in Nigeria, the GHC aligns with global health goals and highlights the pivotal role that youth can play in fostering societal change. Registration for the Geneith Health Competition is currently ongoing, and students are encouraged to participate.

The competition also inspires participants through mottos such as “End malaria, our strongest challenge yet,” “Your health, your defense against malaria,” “Stand strong, stay malaria-free,” “Mosquitoes don’t rest, neither should we,” and “Join the competition, beat the bite.”
