The Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) and the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) have joined forces to strengthen healthcare innovation and funding in Nigeria.

At the HFN-PVAC Funding Opportunity pitch event in Lagos, 14 HFN member companies presented innovative healthcare solutions to a panel of experts, aiming to address major challenges in the country’s healthcare sector.

The presentations provided the companies with an opportunity to secure funding and development support from PVAC, positioning them to advance their innovations.

HFN President, Dr Pamela Ajayi, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “We are proud to partner with PVAC to provide this platform, and we look forward to seeing the impact these innovations will have on Nigeria’s healthcare system.”

Ajayi added that the pitch event is part of HFN’s broader mission to help private-sector healthcare companies gain visibility and drive positive change.

“In the coming months, HFN plans to organise more pitch events, virtual sessions, and other collaborative opportunities,” she said.

National Coordinator of PVAC, Dr Abdu Mukhtar, emphasised the federal government’s commitment to fostering healthcare innovation.

“This initiative is a critical part of our vision to unlock Nigeria’s healthcare potential by empowering local companies to lead in innovation,” he said, assuring continued support for local healthcare businesses to contribute to national development.

Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in addressing brain drain. “Initiatives like this are essential not only in driving innovation but also in inspiring Nigerian professionals abroad to return and contribute to healthcare development,” he said, commending HFN and PVAC for their collaboration.

Former Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, who served as one of the judges, also praised the event, saying the event exemplifies the power of partnerships in healthcare.

He commended HFN for bringing key public and private stakeholders together for the initiative.

The event showcased a range of innovative ideas, including medical technology, diagnostics, telemedicine, and healthcare delivery systems.
