In a united call to action, the initiator of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC), Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, alongside the project’s sponsor, Mr. Emmanuel Umenwa, has applauded Nigerian students for embracing the nationwide health campaign aimed at combating malaria.
The competition, which is currently open for registration, seeks to harness youth engagement in the fight against the deadly disease.
Powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, a high-strength antimalarial medication effective against Plasmodium falciparum, GHC aims to not only promote treatment access but also foster widespread health education. Through this initiative, young Nigerians will be equipped with tools to advocate for public health, participate in workshops, engage in health walks, and conduct community outreach programs.
The programme also aims to groom the next generation of health advocates by instilling leadership qualities and promoting civic engagement among youth.
Students from tertiary institutions across the country—universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education—have thrown their support behind the initiative, with national student leaders actively championing the cause.
Among them are the President of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Comrade Josiah Peter Oche; the President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NASPS), Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide; and the President of the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Comrade Edunjobi Samuel Oluwaseun.
“We regard your participation in this initiative as a powerful step toward a malaria-free Nigeria. By rallying together, you have the potential to make an indelible impact on public health, raising awareness and inspiring action among your peers and communities,” Ilobanafor said.
Organizers emphasised that the GHC is more than a competition—it is a movement.
“Your energy, creativity, and dedication are paramount to making this campaign successful,” Ilobanafor added.
Echoing the sentiment, Umenwa highlighted the role of institutional support and student innovation in addressing health challenges.
“Together, we can create a formidable front against this disease. The involvement of students is crucial in this fight, as they represent the vibrant and innovative spirit necessary to enact meaningful change,” he stated.
Registration for the GHC is now open to students across Nigeria. To join the movement and play a vital role in the nation’s march toward a malaria-free future, students are encouraged to register at www.geneithhealthcompetition.com.
