Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has assured qualified private medical practitioners of his administrations resolve to provide enabling environment just as he disclosed that mobile clinics had been put in place in the 27 local councils of the state for free treatment of patients.

Uzodimma, represented by his Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Lina Okereke, disclosed the above recently during the grand opening ceremony of Medical City Hospital, Owerri, Imo State, owned by an Imo born medical doctor / specialist, based in the United States, Dr. Chima Oleru.

In the ceremony attended by the immediate past governor of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, Uzodimma promised that his administration had opened hands of partnership with Oleru and others like him to improve the state’s healthcare system, urging them to adhere to his plea.

The governor commended Oleru for utilising over 30 years of medical practice to invest in the state by providing about 50 – bed space equipped to take care of ailments with modern equipment.

Uzodimma, expressed gratitude that the facility would handle such health challenges as kidney treatment, laboratory service, obstetrics and gynaecology, digital X-ray, ultra sound, cardiology, accident and emergency, neurosurgery / neurology, orthopaedic, echocardiogram, intensive care unit (ICU), maternity and 24 /7 service.

Oleru, in his response, said he established the medical facility worth about N1 billion to take care of the health needs of the people, stressing that a Computed Tomography (CT) scan machine worth about $300,000 had been imported to arrive soon.

His words: “I invested over N1 billion to do this. We started since 2018.”

In his speech, Ihedioha remarked that the decision for Oleru to establish such a health institution was commendable, adding that it should be emulated.
