Remi Tinubu, UN Deputy Secretary-General to attend Gombe health summit

Gombe State will host its first-ever Health Summit on October 2, with a two-day programme designed to address key challenges in the health sector, identify solutions, and highlight the government’s achievements.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, announced this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Gombe.

According to him, the summit will attract prominent participants, including Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu; United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed; Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate; development partners; stakeholders; National Assembly members; health experts; civil society organisations (CSOs); and media representatives.

Dahiru said a major highlight will be the commissioning of significant health projects by the First Lady, including the College of Nursing in Gombe and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.

He added that the state will also launch an emergency health call centre and deploy ambulances to facilitate rapid response in emergencies, enabling families to quickly contact health authorities for timely evacuation to hospitals.

“The initiative is poised to revolutionise emergency healthcare services in the state,” Dahiru stated, noting that the summit marks a new phase in Gombe’s effort to strengthen its health system.
