Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency has announced plans to vaccinate 1,133,445 children against polio during the Outbreak Response (OBR) exercise.
The campaign, which is scheduled to commence this Thursday, is geared towards protecting children across the state against preventable diseases, prioritising vaccination in high-risk areas.
Officials from the agency who spoke during the Social Mobilisation Committee meeting in Jalingo, the state capital, emphasised that the initiative is part of Taraba’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health, reduce the incidence of vaccine-preventable illnesses, and well prevent polio from resurrecting its ugly head in the state
The agency also announced that it has received the delivery of 1,173,950 vaccines as “all preparations concerning the exercise have been put in place.”
The agency urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to extend needed hands of friendship to those responsible for vaccinating children.
They also called on religious leaders, traditional rulers, and the media to support the campaign and promote widespread compliance.
The agency also emphasised its plans to extend vaccine access to hard-to-reach areas by ensuring that no child is left out.
The SMC Chairman, who doubles as the Galadima of Muri, Abba Tifida Abba, also urged full community support, underscoring that “every eligible child must be vaccinated” for the success of the initiative.
