On August 4, the international human rights organization, Amnesty International, dealt a powerful blow to its own reputation. A press release issued by the organization read in part: “Ukrainian warfare tactics endanger civilians.” The statement of the so-called human rights activists noted that “units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly occupy positions in residential areas, in particular, on the territory of schools and hospitals, which endangers the civilian population.” Of course, the message was actively disseminated by Russian propaganda. Because of this, Amnesty International has earned the indelible stigma of Putin’s propagandists.

An Amnesty International employee with 20 years of experience, Donatella Rovera, became the main “star” of creating an anti-Ukrainian statement. But she distinguished herself with very dubious statements about the events in Ukraine even before her “star’s hour”.

On May 6, a presentation of the Amnesty International investigation into the events near Kyiv took place. Donatella Rivera launched her activities in Borodyanka. She published a report on this city, a photo of houses destroyed by Russians in which all the world’s media circled.

In his report after the investigation in Borodyanka, Rovera stated that the main goal was to find out if the Russian armed forces had “good reasons” to destroy residential high-rise buildings on the main street of Ukrainian city of Borodyanka. Also, Ms. Rovera was trying allegorically to blame the residents of the houses for staying in the buildings when the Russians started bombing them (are they to blame for not hiding)?

Rovera also cited the fact that “one of the residents told his family that someone was shooting from the roof of his house” is also a possible reason for the bombing of residential buildings in Borodyanka by Russians.

Obviously, she hinted at the fact that the Ukrainians dared to defend themselves against the Russian maniacs, who, with the help of artillery and air bombardments, sparing no one in their path, made their way to Kyiv. Which has already been “taken in three days” for six months.

However, having studied the investigative activities of Rovera and her colleagues in Ukraine until August, we can conclude that until that time, they did not directly blame the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the death of the civilian population. Obviously, the Amnesty International report of August 4 can be considered an official coming out and the beginning of the organization’s activities in the interests of the Kremlin.

The “human rights activist” Rovera did not reinvent the wheel and acts strictly according to the patterns of the Russian propaganda, she accused Ukraine of war crimes of the Russian occupiers. Obviously, the main objectives of this campaign are to undermine the political authority of Ukraine; reduce the volume of Western military and political aid; accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the war crimes of the Russians and to create the ground for further killings, destruction and looting of Russians in the context of “Ukrainians are bad.

The campaign also aimed at equalizing in the eyes of the world community, Ukraine – a democratic state that is defending itself from Russian invasion, and the Russian Federation – a maniac that destroys cities along with the civilian population, occupies the lands of a neighbouring country.

Canadian journalist, Neil Hauer, who crossed paths with Rovera in Donbas in May, noted that she had an obvious order from the leadership to act in the interests of the Russian Federation.

The involvement of a “human rights activist” in creating a story on CDS News, which was published almost simultaneously with a press release accusing the Armed Forces of Ukraine, suggested quite obvious conclusions. The authors of the propaganda story tried to raise issues of Ukraine’s effective use of material and technical assistance supplied by Western countries and the risks associated with the lack of donor control over the supplied weapons and their possible entry into the “black market”.

Rovera, who became one of the commentators on the CBS story openly supported Russian narratives. In particular, he compared the war in Ukraine with the US operations in the Middle East and Africa, drawing parallels between the American weapons falling into the hands of ISIS at the time as a result of the retreat of Iraqi troops.

The dissemination of Russian narratives in the Amnesty International report and statements aimed at undermining the reputation of Ukraine in the CBS News program is an indirect confirmation of the use of Donatella Rovera by Russia in special events aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the eyes of foreign partners and suspending the supply of arms.

At the same time, the Daily Mail published a report by the Washington Institute for Defense and Security and the New York Foreign Policy Center about trafficking in children and women from Russian-occupied territories in an article titled ‘Ukrainian women and children are being trafficked into the UAE as sex slaves, warn defence experts.’

“Vulnerable Ukrainian women and children were likely being trafficked into sex slavery and domestic servitude in the United Arab Emirates”, defense experts have warned.

Millions of Ukrainians have fled the war-torn country since Russia began its brutal advance in February, leading to increased concerns about refugees being susceptible to trafficking. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky feared that some 200,000 children have gone missing since the invasion five months ago.

Now, a new report from the Washington Institute for Defense and Security and the New York Center for Foreign Policy Affairs, has revealed that some of those ‘lost’ women and children may be being trafficked to the UAE.

Researchers have said that many Russian oligarchs have sought refuge in the Gulf state to avoid international sanctions and are in need of Russian-speaking staff.

Amnesty International chooses to ignore this topic. Despite the fact that it is contrary to the interests and goals of this organization.

Amnesty International’s silence on the trafficking of Ukrainian women and children from Russian-occupied territories speaks louder than its report on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Amnesty International has failed professionally and lost international credibility. Against the backdrop of the sluggish inaction of the UN, the OSCE, the Red Cross Committee, which are in no hurry to take steps to stop the genocide of Ukrainians, Amnesty International has distinguished itself with particular cynicism, trying to equate Ukraine with the aggressor – the Russian Federation.
