Nigerian youths recently gathered in their numbers for the mentorship programme tagged ‘Inspire To Excel’.
Held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, the event brought together mentors from all walks of life who guided the youths on how to climb the ladder of success in their chosen fields.
Inspire To Excel featured a workshop and panel session that groomed the young people on how to get better in their businesses and careers alongside startup funds giveaway for them to scale their businesses
Founder of Abiola Inspires and Convener, Inspire To Excel, Abiola Kila Onalaja, said: “The aim is to ensure Nigeria youths have access to the opportunities they need to thrive. From my journey, I realised that a lot of people in the career and business world desire the chance to do well but struggle a lot to succeed because there is nobody to hold their hand. This is why I decided not to climb the ladder of success alone but take others with me. Inspire to Excel is about taking people by the hand, giving the Nigerian youths the opportunity to do well. I think more people should be able to do this, don’t go alone to the top, take as many people as you can.”
On the importance of entrepreneurship Onalaja said “Entrepreneurship is the answer to Nigeria’s economic growth as it creates more revenue, and avails the opportunity to hire more people for employment. Also innovation and technology is key – this would help people in their career space to be more productive. The world is moving and it is time for Nigeria to rise up to not only joining the journey but to be a pacesetter.”
Also speaking at the event, Founder, Generation Next, Olufunke Fajusibe, said, “a world without the next phase is a dead world. The next generation is the power and future of the world. For us at Generation Next, our goal is to ensure that young Nigerians have two feet on the ground in all ramifications. The youths need to be supported and encouraged and this is what Inspire to Excel is about – dream, grow and achieve.”
