Community suggests local court for COVID-19 preventive Protocols violators

Traditional Ruler-elect of Eziukwu Aba in Aba South Local Government Area, Chief Juddy Ogbonna has enjoined his subjects not to waver from observing all the prescribed COVID-19 preventive protocols, saying where they disregard such, the Community may consider setting up a ‘Community Court’ to try the culprits according to their culture and norms.

He also urged them to be wary of the reported growing insecurity threats and challenges resulting from the activities of criminals and killer-Herdsmen.

The monarch also charged his subjects to be vigilant so as to prevent criminals from operating in the community. He spoke after his Community’s leadership presented him to the Chairman of Aba South Council, Hon Emmanuel Ebere for onward presentation to the state government for endorsement and issuance of Staff of Office as Traditional Ruler. 
 
President-General of the community, Elder Chijioke Ogbonna who led the Community delegation to the local government told the Council Chairman that their traditional ruler – elect was unanimously selected.

According to the address read to the Council Chairman by the Community Secretary-General Hon. Chinweizu Ahuama, “we members of Eziukwu Aba hereby present to you, a man who has served his Community and the government as a great influencer, loyal service and patriotic gestures”.

Council chairman, in his remarks, commended the community for peacefully and unanimously selecting their popular and worthy son as their Eze, predicting that his peaceful selection would facilitate his endorsement by the state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and consequently charged the Eze-elect to continue with those attributes that endeared him to his people.

The traditional ruler-elect assured that he would not deviate from his disposition to serve his community as a man of the people and urged them to continue to lend their support and cooperation.

Leader of the community’s women, Mrs Ego Aruh who corroborated the unanimous choice of Chief Juddy Ogbonna, described it as God ordained. He said: “The women resolved totally for his selection and will continue to support and co-operate with him.
