The immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Akwa Ibom, Uwemedimo Nwoko, has charged Nigeria’s judiciary to expedite action on matters pending in courts.

Nwoko, whose name, among others, was last weekend sent by Governor Udom Emmanuel to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for screening for position of a commissioner, made the assertion on the heels of PDP’s loss of the governorship election in Ondo State to opposition All Progressive Party (APC).

Making reference to Court of Appeal affirmation of Eyitayo Jegede as the candidate of the PDP about 72 hours to the election, the lawyer pointed fingers at those he described as “agent of darkness” for being responsible for loss of the PDP in the election.

He said PDP’s loss was imminent in that the party had no chance to sell the candidature of Eyitayo Jegede to the electorate but absolved the judiciary of being “connected in any way to the loss of election in Ondo” even as he maintained faith that the third arm of government is capable of restoring normalcy to PDP.

He said Jimoh Ibrahim was used as ploy by forces outside PDP to cause distraction in the party. Charging the governor-elect, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) to do well, he noted that the performances of the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) were “vindications to the inclination that those in the legal profession especially those in the inner bar has what it takes to render effective and efficient services to the people of Nigeria”. He therefore urged Akeredolu, on getting into office to work to surpass achievement recorded in Lagos by Fashola.
