Motorcyclist in court for allegedly stealing N126,000 motorcycle
A 22-year-old man, Rilwan Akintayo, who allegedly stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N126,000, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, a motorcycle rider, who lives at 18, Olateju St., Mushin, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the offence was committed on Aug. 13 at 16, Cash St., Mushin, Lagos.
According to Eruada, the accused went to the residence of one Mr Hassan Lateef and stole his Bajaj motorcycle.
“The accused was at the point of selling when a friend to the complainant recognised the motorcycle and he alerted the police,” he said.
Eruada said that the value of the motor cycle is N126,000 and noted that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr E.O Ogunkanmi, granted the accused bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to Aug. 28 for mention.
