Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) has underscored the importance of deploying technology in advancing the career of women lawyers.

Chairperson, NBAWF, Chinyere Okorocha, disclosed this in Lagos at a media parley on the forthcoming NBAWF third yearly conference holding in Abuja, from March 30 to 31.

With the themed ‘Tech Her In: Innovating for Gender Equity,’ she said the conference is held in line with International Women’s Day celebration tagged “The world today is centered around the use of technology so I think it’s time to focus on it,” she said.

The group said that its conference would also focus on the role of technology in career development and ensure accessibility for People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

Okorocha stated that technology helps women solve the push and pull that come with life work balance by being able to practice profession or advance one’s career in the midst of life issues.

She said the conference would provide opportunities for participants to network with people with experiences and learn new technologies women are using to scale in their career.

Okorocha said that NBAWF aims to address all matters female lawyers may have, with focus on the gender needs and network with the aim of career advancement.

She noted that female lawyers have a role to play in the global economy and effect policies that empower female lawyers for success.

Chairperson, Conference Planning Committee, (CPC), Foluke Dada, speaking on the conference said it would start with a fireside chat on March 29, by 6pm, where women would learn from the experiences and success stories of others.

The conference would also feature welcome addresses, keynote speeches, panel sessions and training.

“We would have panel sessions on Equity and technology titled ‘Accelerating her career through technology; outlook and trends in tech that would impact policy; expose female lawyers to leveraging tech post COVID-19 era, collaborating for her and others,” she said.

She added that there would be training on data protection and privacy and discussion around proper dressing at the bar.
