ABOUT 341 youths across Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II has successfully completed their computer literacy programme, which was sponsored by their representative at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Jude Emeka Idimogu.
The beneficiaries, who thronged the awards/graduation ceremony at Olokun Primary School, Ilasamaja, over the weekend, alongside their parents and other guests from across the constituency, were full of joy at their newly acquired skill after the two-month programme at JIDAB Computer Training Centre, Isolo.
According to them, many did not believe it was real, especially as it was advertised to be free and did not segregate between party faithful or ethnicity, until they had completed the course.
Best student at the programme, Odesola Oloruntobi, and the first runner-up, Abraham Peters, from Akwa Ibom State, disclosed that they, like every other participant, applied free for the forms and paid N1000 for course materials and Identity Card. He added that the package included computer awareness, word processing, excel and desktop publishing, among others.
Thanking the participants for turning out for the programme, Idimogu noted that though provision was made for 400 persons, the investment would have been a waste if no one had attended. And to encourage further participation, he awarded N25,000 to each of the best three participants.
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, said it was a “well thought-out computer training programme” that rekindles hope for the people.
