French-Village-CopyWorried by the deplorable condition of physical infrastructure and learning facilities at the French Language Village, Ajara, Badagry, the lawmaker representing the area in the Lagos State House Assembly, Setonji David, has called on the federal government to restore the funding of the school.

Setonji who spoke to journalists in Badagry after a visit to the school recently said it was sad that facilities in the French language school were decaying while some have become obsolete.

He added that it was regrettable that the school was delisted from accessing the TETFund since 2010 stressing that the language school was wrongly assessed as a monotechnic.

He added that the Federal Government should urgently correct the mistake by allowing the French Language School to access the TETFund like other higher institutions in the country.

Setonji further said that lack of fund has impacted negatively on the development and progress of the school, adding that the institution was equally facing ecological problems.

He therefore, called on all relevant government agencies to assist the school in repairing its internal roads and in checking the menace of erosion in the area. The lawmaker added that everything should be done to sustain the school since it is a revenue earner to government, as Nigerian students need not travel abroad for the special French language programme. He promised to continue to pursue with vigour to better the lots of federal and state institutions in Badary zone.
