leprosyWith the focus of eradicating leprosy in the country, the Leprosy Prevention and Eradication Initiative, has over the weekend launched a leprosy charity that will enable to raise funds for the course of people afflicted by the disease.

It is basically looking after deprived people that have been affected by leprosy and providing support for them.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos, the Founder of the charity, Mrs. Margaret Eniola, said the purpose of the launch was to raise awareness because “it seems they have been forgotten.”

Eniola, who quit her job two years ago in the United Kingdom (UK), believes it is a calling for her to support people affected with the disease, “but this I can not do it alone, I am therefore calling for a collective efforts of Nigerians to help eradicate this disease”.
She noted that apart from funds being her major challenge, the bureaucracy in the country was another main challenge, though she confirmed holding some meetings with some Ogun state government officials to that regard.
