The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chief Executive Officer of Neta & Netas limited, a Media, PR and events company, Lady Neta Nwosu, for editorial consultancy and cooperation. The franchise agreement will see Nwosu and her team undertake the production and marketing of its bespoke quarterly journal, Advertising News.

While signing the MoU, APCON’s Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Ijedi Iyoha, expressed that “it was time the magazine assumed the responsibility of shaping the discourse in the industry and I believe that Lady Neta Nwosu is just the right person to drive the process.“She does not just have the requisite editorial know-how, but has sufficient influence within the industry to reposition the journal for growth beyond the level it is currently.”

While expressing appreciation to the council’s management for the confidence reposed on her, Nwosu gave the assurance that Neta & Netas team would in no doubt surpass APCON’s expectation. She noted: “My team and I plan to bring to bear on this task a high level of expertise and professionalism, in keeping with global best practice. We are already working on the next edition and promise it will be a bumper pack of authoritative coverage of advertising and marketing industries.

“I thank APCON’s editorial team for the insightful management of Advertising News that has brought it to its current esteemed status and the council’s stakeholders who have helped in its sustenance in one way or the other. We will work with both teams to achieve greater results.”  Advertising News, originally conceptualized to serve as the council’s mouthpiece and a channel through which its activities are publicised, has since evolved into a journal that educates and informs industry practitioners.    Nwosu was General Manger, Marketing and Corporate Services of The Sun Publishing Limited, where she served meritoriously for 15 years and left indelible footprints in the marketing department.

She was among the top team that started The Sun newspapers, where she established the advert department and rechristened it ‘Business Development’, a revolutionary move designed to transform the Advert Executives into Advertising Sales Practitioners with insights on editorial marketing, newspapers space marketing, media selection as well as media buying. She also set up the Corporate Services Unit charged with events marketing and management.

Nwosu is considered an authority in Brand Journalism, Marketing Communications and Events in Nigeria, with a wide range of experience spanning 29 years with career stints in Vanguard, Concord, Daily Times, Post Express and The Sun newspapers as well as the first below-the- line marketing agency, Contact Marketing Services Ltd.

In the course of her career that traversed the print media and marketing communications industry, she has practised journalism, public relations, PR (with particular focus on media relations and crisis/issues management), Corporate Advertising, Brand Activation and Events Marketing. She holds a BSc in Zoology and MSc in Media and Marketing Communications from the University of Benin, Benin City, and Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, respectively.
