
A security guard, Solomon Bulus, was on Tuesday, arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court, Kubwa, Abuja, over alleged criminal conspiracy, negligent conduct and theft.
The police charged the defendant with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, theft and negligent conduct.
The Prosecuting Counsel, John Okpa, said that the defendant and one Ogenyi Emmanuel, who had earlier been arraigned, were employed as security guards by Amazing Star International School, Kukwuaba, on Jan. 1.

Okpa said that the defendant was entrusted with all the school items to secure but connived with Emmanuel and acted negligently, thus leading to the theft of one colour-photocopying machine valued at N600,000.
He said that a Butterfly sewing machine, valued N180,000, also got stolen.
The offences, according to him, contravene Sections 97,312,198 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Nneaka Lesley, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N700,000, with one surety in like sum.
Lesley said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be a civil servant not lower than Grade Level 10.
He, thereafter, adjourned the matter till Feb. 4 for hearing.
