Women radio announces investigative journalism training, calls for application

The Women Radio Centre, in partnership with The MacArthur Foundation, has announced a fully funded residential training on investigative journalism for females.

The Women Radio Centre, in partnership with The MacArthur Foundation, has announced a fully funded residential training on investigative journalism for females.

Twenty female journalists would be selected to participate in the one-week intensive training to uncover under-reported issues affecting women and girls in Nigeria.

Tuition, accommodation, transportation, training/course materials, feeding and incidentals would be provided. Participants would be required to do story projects and undergo mentorship to demonstrate lessons learnt at the training.

Grant towards work tools would be provided to successful graduates to enhance their investigative reporting.

Once the eligibility criteria are satisfied, selection would be based on the applicant’s track record of journalism, passion and investigative mindset.
Commitment and enthusiasm of each candidate would be evaluated to ensure diversity and inclusion.

The training starts July25, 2022 and participants are to arrive Lagos State on July 24 and depart July 31, 2022.

Interested applicants must be a resident female Nigerian, a journalist in print, electronic or new media, must be passionate about accurate reporting of women related issues, must commit to the one-week residential training and must commit to an ongoing mentorship programme and provide one recommendation letter.
