MILD at 30: UNILAG hosts alumni

Unilag---CopyAll is now set for the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law (JIL), University of Lagos (UNILAG), to mark the 30th anniversary of its master’s programme in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD). The event comes up on Friday December 4.

Head of Department, JIL, Dr. Morakinyo Ayoade, who made the disclosure yesterday in an interview with The Guardian, said the department would host its alumni among who many have become ambassadors, diplomats, international law consultants and public servants.

Among other things, the programme will feature activities such as lecture, dinner party and networking opportunities for both alumni and students, while students of the department would also visit the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos and the European Union Office in Abuja, he added.

Ayoade who stated that, “The event is meant to be an homecoming for our alumni,” informed that the guest speaker for the anniversary lecture, Ambassador Olukanmi Ayoola Lawrence, was a pioneer student, alongside 14 others when the programme started in 1985.

He will be speaking on “International Law and Development Process, Reflection on Nigeria Experience.”

Expected at the events are former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, former minister of Education, Oby Ezekwezili and others.
