Mind Builders celebrates Christmas, harps on total child development

The need for school owners and managers to adopt the curricula that would facilitate the total development of pupils in line with the changing times has been stressed.

This is the view of Education Director, Mind Builders School, Ikeja, Lagos, Mrs. Bola Falore, while speaking to The Guardian during the school’s Christmas Carol /Concert, with the theme, “For God so Loved the World.”

The event, which featured various musical performances by pupils, Falore said, was organised to put pupils in the mood of the season, adding that it would also aid the pupils understanding of the reason for the season.

Falore, who is also the proprietress of the school said resorting to curricula that centres on total development of a child ensures that children are drilled in the cognitive, affective and the psychomotor fields, which will enable them develop completely and function properly.

While harping on the production of balanced individuals, who would contribute their quota to society’s advancement, she further stressed the importance of honing the creative abilities of children, noting that doing so enables children to be independent upon attaining adulthood.

Since the availability of necessary educational facilities and equipment are key to qualitative teaching and proper child development, Falore urged the government to “desist from levying public school pupils; cut down on the multiple taxation charged private schools and use part of the money to provide the necessary facilities and equipment needed for proper child development and learning in public schools.

The educationist informed, “In line with the quest to ensure child development and proper learning, I and members of my foundation, Onigbogbo Education Foundation (OEF), supply some needed facilities to some public schools in the state.”

In his exhortation, Reverend Williams Swamzy of the Pentecostal Mission Church, admonished pupils and all Christians to put Christ first in all their dealings, especially during the season.
