NAPS decry incessant killing of Nigerian students

National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has decried the incessant killing of Nigerian students in northern part of the country, saying the nation has failed its citizens.

According to the National President of the union, Sunday Asuku, “Our campuses are no longer safe especially in the Northeast region.

Some days back, it was the chairman CAN of Michika council, Adamawa State; later to Ropvil Deciya Dalep of University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) that was beheaded by Boko Haram, Fatimah Babagana of Mass Communication, department UNIMAID alongside other 29 innocent Nigerians were burnt to ashes by same deadly set of heartless human beings.

“The high rate of killing innocent people increases without any serious effort to stop the perpetrators. The gunmen now abduct people from their respective houses on their free will to massacre. Kidnappers are on rampage on every highway, bandits are in active service of sacking Nigerians from their respective villages. These acts have caused damage to humanity, as lives and properties have been destroyed. Nigeria soldiers at war front are being killed mercilessly as a result of crack in the security formations.”

Stating that the time is long overdue for Nigerians to rise and seek and end to the excesses of these hoodlums, he said, “The service chiefs are obviously tired but refuse to retire, as they failed to perform the duties assigned to them. Arise Nigerians!

“Arise and join the call for replacement, and join the call for new hands and new approach to security situation of Nigeria.

“My life has been under threat since our leadership commence the struggle calling for replacement of security chiefs, but it won’t deter me from pushing for what is good for my nation. My lines and movement are being monitored by the security agencies. It can be anybody tomorrow; it can be those agents of security running after my life or their family next. Let’s move together in defence of armless Nigerian citizens and her territorial integrity,” he said.
