The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law has announced its partnership with international law firm, Baker & McKenzie LLP to hold three highly instructive seminars for business lawyers at the end of the month.

Speaking on the training, which commences from February 29th to March 3rd, 2016, the Chairman of the SBL Training Committee, Dr. Adeoye Adefulu explained that the programme was part of the Section’s commitment to enhance the skills of Nigerian business lawyers through the development and delivery of in-depth training programmes.

“Since the Committee was inaugurated last year, we have hosted almost 10 events, covering different aspects of the legal profession,” he said.

The SBL training is expected to kick off with a half-day seminar targeted at law firm associates and deals with different aspects of Bond Issues. The seminar will be delivered by partners of Baker & McKenzie LLP.

According to Adefulu, the collaboration with Baker & McKenzie offers an opportunity to provide an international perspective to the SBL trainings.

“On the 2nd of March 2016, we are also collaborating with the NBA Corporate Counsel Forum to deliver a half-day seminar targeted at senior corporate counsel on Leadership & Project Management. The corporate counsel seminar will be facilitated by Andrew Gordon, the head of Business Development for Baker & Mckenzie and Robin Simmonds, the COO & Director of Operations for Baker & McKenzie Africa.

“Andrew & Robin would also be facilitating the seminar targeted at law firm partners. This seminar, which holds on the 3rd of March, 2016 titled “Business Skills Development for Law Firm Partners” was developed in recognition of the need to build business skills for law firm partners, to facilitate competition in the global market”, he stated.
