Ngozi Madumere, Enwere Kingsley, Wale Oyindamola are winners of TUMA Competition

Madumere Rejoice Ngozi of Giant Stride Nursery & Primary School, Ifo, Ogun State; Enwere Kingsley Ikenna of Cuddly Kids; and Olawale Oyindamola Hann of Vickstell International School, Ikorodu, Lagos have emerged first, second and third place winners in the 2019 edition of The Ultimate Mathematics Ambassador (TUMA) competition.

The annual competition, which is in its 7th edition, was organised by The Ambassadors Schools, Ota, Ogun State, a co-educational Nursery, Primary and Secondary School, with special focus on making a total child of every pupil. The aim of the exercise was to also inculcate strong mathematical skills during childhood, which is believed to be the foundation of attaining prominence in life.

The winners emerged from the top 10 finalists, who made it to the final stage of the competition.This year’s edition was kick-started with a tripartite representation of over 400 schools, with a total of over 1,000 potential winners in the first stage. It was later streamlined to a top-50 in the second stage, which culminated into the final stage, where the top 10 finally emerged.

At the prize giving and award ceremony, the founder and Chairman of the school, Mr. Samson Yomi Osewa said the competition was envisioned to eliminate Mathematics phobia prevalent at the grassroots.

He aid: “We wish to see every child possess the problem-solving skills inherent in the calculative nature of Mathematics, which is inevitable in our everyday life. Propelled by the obligation to make it rewarding, our mission is to provide the platform for every child to express his/her potential via the merger of calculation and speed. The TUMA vision is as pertinent today as when it was first conceived.”
