In a momentous occasion held at the Government residential area, Ilorin on Sunday 18th December 2016, the President of the Nigerian Senate and the Chair of the National Assembly honored 72 outstanding Nigerian scholars who were invited and celebrated in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements. The ceremony was an acknowledgment of their unparalleled excellence in their respective fields. The award was conferred upon these remarkable individuals for achieving the highest academic distinction, a first-class degree with honors, the most prestigious honor that can be earned from any university worldwide. These scholars have excelled not only in their academic pursuits but have also set a benchmark for excellence, demonstrating the vast intellectual potential present in Nigeria.

The scholars have demonstrated exceptional prowess in fields ranging from Biochemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Medicine, to Engineering, Economics, and Political Science. They have pursued their academic journeys at esteemed institutions such as Kwara State University, Malete, University of Ilorin, and Federal University of Technology Minna, Modibbo Adama University of Technology among others. During the ceremony, the President of the Senate highlighted the significance of their achievement, noting that the recognition serves as a testament to the academic strength and future potential of Nigerian youth.
