Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Britain, Ambassador George Adesola Oguntade, has emphasised the importance of protocol practice in nation-building and the urgency in getting the protocol industry fully institutionalised so as to promote better international standards, values within the private and public sectors and in all its networks.

Oguntade stated this while receiving a delegation of the Association of Certified Protocol Practitioners in Nigeria (ACPPN), who paid him a courtesy visit during their training programme hosted by the European School of Protocol and the British School of Protocol in London last week.

The Nigerian envoy, who urged the ACPPN to be more proactive in its engagements, promised to support the association whenever the need arises.President of the Association and Principal Consultant, Synergy Systems Consults (UK Limited), Mrs. Patricia Kenneth-Divine, commended Oguntade for the great support given to Nigerians in the Diaspora.

Kenneth-Divine, who noted that the visit would afford ACPPN an opportunity to solicit support in actualising its vision and objectives, especially in the process of expanding its networks among Nigerians in the Diaspora, added that it would enable the association gain access to obtaining regulatory procedures in achieving some of its major objectives.

First Secretary, Head of Chancery, Samuel. O. Ojo, while welcoming the ACPPN delegation, encouraged them to work in unity and ensure that the rebranding concept of protocol practice in Nigeria is promoted across the country. Ojo emphasised the need to create more awareness on its visions and missions.

The ACPPN president, while confirming the upcoming inaugural ceremony in Lagos on May 24, added that the visit would also help expand its scope of engaging with UK companies who are keen on doing business in Nigeria, especially in the aviation sector.

Oguntade, while lauding the ACPPN’s strategy of promoting protocol standards through intensive training programmes on business leadership and diplomatic protocol, tasked them on more commitment and building structures that will enhance its visions.
