Parents and caregivers have been charged to help children discover their talents, purpose and skills in life.

Chief Executive Officer, Twin Doves Concepts, Kody Cynthia Chikodi Onu-Etim, made the call at a family event tagged ‘Kody and the Kids’ in Surulere, Lagos.

She said that every child leader is a homebuilder, whose purpose is connected to a problem in the nation or community they were born.

Onu-Etim urged parents to listen, care and spend quality time with their children and not leave them at the mercies of domestic workers.

She said: “We believe in catching them young. Every child matters to us, every kid counts regardless of status, background or tribe. Children are very special, they have the purest of hearts with great potentials and talents useful to us and the society.”

The convener said empowering children and youths with life- skills will help them to reach their potential, become transformational leaders, who are not only purposeful, but valuable and influential to their generation.

At the event, 12-year-old Enoch Favour Chinemerem from Abia State won the Miss Intelligent Pageant. Eseoghene Daisy Oghakpor emerged first runner up, while Khaira Bashir clinched the second runner up position.

Chinemerem went home with prizes and will also be on payroll of the organiser for one year, while the runners up received consolation prizes.

Parents of the winners said their children are leaving the event more confident and articulate.

“We also appreciate the organisers of the yearly free empowerment programme for teenagers, where they are trained in different hands on skills like bead making, ankara craft, pastry making, graphic design and balloon decoration craft, among others,” they said.
