Demands N250m damages
The Registrar, Quantity Surveyors Registration Council of Nigeria (QSRCN), Mr. Godson Moneke, has sued the board of QSRCN and the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing before the National Industrial Court, Abuja.

Moneke is challenging his alleged unlawful removal from office by the President, Governing Board of the Council, Murtala Aliyu.

In the suit, he joined Aliyu; board member, Musa Mshalgaya; the governing board of QSRCN and the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, as first to fourth defendants, respectively.

Specifically, Moneke is challenging the outright disregard to relevant laws by Aliyu, by singlehandedly effecting his removal and forcefully ejecting him from office without due diligence and contrary to the enabling Act of the agency.

The matter has been slated for January 24th, 2019 for mention.

The Minister of Works and Housing appointed Moneke Registrar at the recommendation of previous Board of the Council.

But the claimant alleged that Aliyu have designated a member of the board, Musa Mshagalya as Acting Registrar.

He was also alleged to have gone ahead to advertise vacancy for the position held by the claimant after chasing him out of the QSRC premises and sealing it off.

The action is supported by a 38-paragraph affidavit personally deposed to by the claimant, who wants an order of court directing the first to fourth defendants to pay him the sum of N250million as general damages and cost of the legal action.

The claimant is also praying for an order that the defendants shall pay him the interest on the judgment sum at the rate of 10 percent from the date of judgment till liquidation.
