LIKE a cool breeze on a hot summer evening, a new radio station, Rize 106.7 FM, has begun test transmission in the Warri neighborhood, beaming signals of genuine transformation of the good old oil city, in Delta State and indeed the Niger Delta region.

The radio station hit the airwaves late October 2015, testing its supersonic equipment in preparation for effective take-off this December, giving listeners in the Delta region a fresh opportunity to make choices.

Modeled after Rize FM in Atlanta, Georgia USA, promoters of the station, which currently beam signals from its Esiton Link Road, off Ogunu Road in Warri, said its focus is to be inspirational and galvanize the huge human resources available in the Niger Delta region to positive vocations for the proper development.

Effort to get the arrow head of the station, Mr. Tony Mene Akpata, proved abortive but a close source hinted that everything is being made possible to re-order the priority of the youths of the region from militancy through a new wave of entertainment.

The station obviously, is set to offer a refreshing opportunity for listeners and advertisers, who are bogged by unregulated and boring commercial programmes. Unlike existing stations in the area, Rize FM tilts towards being identified as a family station with programmes appealing to all ages…market woman, commercial bus driver, tricycle riders (Keke NAPEP), Okada riders and the guy next door can listen to in the language they all understand including the widely spoken pidgin English.
