THE installation of Rotarian Yemi Osilaja as the eighth President of the Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1 was held in Lagos recently. At the colourful event were not just members of the club, but also friends, family members and colleagues of the celebrant. Also, the programme was used to induct the club’s 2015-2016 Board of Directors.

Osilaja said he felt honoured serving the club because it is service to humanity. According to him, he has been offered the opportunity to serve the club four times in the past but turned it down because he wanted a time he would be able to give his best and perform optimally.

“It is a sense of responsibility and it is just one year to do something and make an impact. It is challenging but at the end it is going to be eventful. Two years ahead we would have known who the next president would be. So we have about two years to plan.

He said his team would continue the intervention projects in the communities the club has adopted, though there is a plan to take it a step further through creating an empowerment programme, a credit scheme for indigent women who have children in public schools.

Osilaja also said there are plans to increase the number of incubators to be donated to hospitals around Lagos and Abeokuta. “We are hoping to give out 20 incubators.”
