School tours promote critical thinking in students, says expert

To promote critical thinking skill in students, Professor Adebukola Osunyikanmi, has harped on the need for schools to organise tours.

She noted that school tours expose students to real life scenarios and experiences which helps deepen and expand their mindset.

She disclosed this after observing the outcome of students from Mabest Academy who went on school trips.

“International school trips are not only fun, they also present students the opportunity to expand their knowledge as well as gain higher level of learning, it also advances their skills at problem solving”

Osunyikanmi, who is also the proprietress of the academy said, “At Mabest Academy we don’t just take them on trips we take them on properly planned trips where they visit places and attend workshops that expose them to a world of real learning situations, such that they can apply what they have learned or about to learn in the classroom to real life situations and circumstances she added”.

“I know the economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will still be around even after the virus has been put under control but nothing can undermine the wonderful and positive life changing effects these tours have on the lives of students who have had the opportunity to go for international school tours”

She stated that the life long memories from all the experiences and the many opportunities that take place during those trips can also inspire these children to go into careers or situations in their adult lives quite different from what they would have done in the absence of such opportunities.
