SEF wins CKA ICT competition

For demonstrating good theoretical and practical knowledge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Supreme Education Foundation (SEF), Magodo, Lagos, has emerged champion of the maiden edition of City of Knowledge Academy (CKA) ICT competition for primary school pupils.

The competition which had participants from 16 primary schools, tested pupils’ dexterity in information technology through the practical and quiz session of the exercise.

With 39, 853 points, SEF came first; County Crest School, Ogun state came second with 27, 937 points; while Salvation International School, Ikeja, finished third position with 25,607 points.

The winning schools received a laptop computer, IPad and PlayStation IV, respectively for the first, second and third positions, while certificates of participation were given to all participating schools.

Founder of CKA, Mrs. Mosunmola Bello-Olusoga, while lauding the pupils’ performances stressed the need for schools to embrace ICT in contemporary teaching and learning so that pupils can achieve their full potentials.

This, she stated could be achieved by deploying modern ICT facilities in their day-to-day activities and providing computers and other technological devices for pupils to practice what they have been taught in the midst of strict guidance and direction.

She said, “The competition was designed to among others enhance pupils’ technological knowledge. It is about catching them young, the reason we are focusing on primary school pupils. So once the primary school pupils know about digitization, it makes learning easier for them when they get into secondary school. But teachers have to be sure that their children do not visit prohibited sites, so monitoring the site is very important.”
