Siemens promotes innovation in Nigerian tertiary institutions

Siemens Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to promote and encourage creativity and innovation in tertiary institutions across the country.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Prof Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), vice president, Power & Gas, Siemens Nigeria, Nasir Giwa, said our undergraduates have lofty ideas and great designs, stressing that with industry support, there would be solutions to the country’s infrastructural problems.

At the event tagged, ‘PAADC 2.0’, Awojobi said the innovation and creativity displayed by Nigerian undergraduates are quite impressive and resonate with Siemens’ slogan of ‘ingenuity for life’.

“Siemen’s support and presence at PAADC underscores the belief in Nigeria and local effort that true innovation comes from learning.

Nigerian undergraduates have presented ideas, which can solve technology challenges being witnessed across different sectors of the economy.

We need to believe in them, support them because the impact has shown that given the opportunity, Nigerian students can shape a bright future for the country.”

He urged policy makers to move away from the era of proposing solutions, which never left the perimeters of the conference halls.

Many countries are discovering solutions to solve common problems like waste management and disposal, medical, health, electricity, transportation and housing, amongst others.”
