Registrar, Gregory University, Uturu (GUU), Abia State, Dr. Austin Orisakwe, has reiterated the importance of exchange programmes to the overall development of students.

In a chat with journalists recently, Orisakwe who announced that the institution’s management has concluded arrangements for the participation of GUU delegates to exchange programmes in two universities in the United States this summer, expressed that exchange programmes offer broad-based benefits for participants.

Some of the benefits, according to him, include international exposure, ability to develop self and make informed decisions, analytical and problem-solving skills, enhanced interest in global issues and a craving to attain loftier heights, among others. He said two separate teams comprising students and officials of the university would participate in summer exchange programmes in Kennesaw State University, Georgia and Langston University, Oklahoma, simultaneously.

His words, “The exercise is in furtherance of our yearly exchange programme policy which officially commenced last summer with visits to Langston University, Oklahoma, and The Opportunity Hub in Atlanta with very resounding results.

He noted, “Having just perfected our partnership agreement with Kennesaw State University, we shall, therefore, be sending another set of students and some faculty members to benefit from their rich academic profile that covers a wide range of academic disciplines”.

He further commended the efforts of the Chancellor, Dr. Gregory Ibe, whose inspiring leadership and relentless commitment to globally acceptable education standards resulted in the establishment of the linkage programmes. He enjoined institutions of higher learning in the country to endeavour to expand the scope of their students intellectually through such inter-university linkages.
