Turbans ruled the runway last Sunday as Arabel introduces its 2016 Collection <em
FOR some women, tying the traditional headgear could be a daunting task, hence they get professionals to do it for them. Over time many may even get tired of tightening glittering gele on their heads, seeking other easy-breezy means of looking elegant.
Also, imagine one of those days when you need to attend a social function and you are not in the mood to tie your gele. Most women may have found themselves in such situations at one time or another in their lives.
And such women may find chic alternatives in today’s dressy turbans.
For the classy and elegant woman who wants to look modest and stylish and still keep heads turning, 2016 is the year to look out for as Arabel, the leading Islamic store in Nigeria launches its 2016 collection tagged “Princess Aisha 2016 Turban Collection.”
Having done Turban production for 12 years learning the ropes, Arabel now has a line of premium ready-to-wear turbans for women to dress their crowns.
The Princess Aisha 2016 Turban show, which held at The Westwood Hotel on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, last Sunday, showcased about seven styles to the admiration of invited guests, among whom were the wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Adebule and Hon. Funmi Tejuosho, among others.
Young models strutted the runway in colourful patterned and richly embellished velvet turbans while the CEO of Arabel, Mrs. Shareefah Abiola Andu, also demonstrated to guests how to tie some of the turbans.
Says Andu: “I want to provide the space for women who desire to cover their heads to do so without stress. Most women desire to, but may find it difficult to get what suits them, in terms of style, durability and affordability. All those worries are what we have put into consideration before coming up with this year’s collection. Princess Aisha Turban is a premium quality brand from Arabel with the mission to marry modesty with elegance without compromising quality.”
Another good thing about the 2016 collection is that it is for every woman as it cuts across religions. They are designed for both Christians and Moslems because fashion, they say, has a universal language.
On her 2016 collection, she said the fabric of choice is high-grade velvet that is soft, supple, shimmery, cool to the touch and skin-friendly.
The stones and accessories are also of high quality. “We have used mostly original Swarovski Crystals to create an amazing collection. All the Turbans in this collection have been individually handcrafted and a lot of care had been put into making the Princess Aisha Turban the signature item in your wardrobe.”
Some of the 2016 collections showcased by the models were Velvet Cleopatra, Silk Velvet Cleopatra, Royal Brunei, Muneez, HC Velvet and Vbow for the youths.
The show-stopper evening ended with a bridal collection using turbans as its side attraction.
