Distributors of TVS King tricycles in Nigeria, Simba Group have conducted a fresh round of road safety training for women riders, as part of their ‘Queen Riders’ training programme.

The initiative, which was in collaboration with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), trained riders in this case, women riders – on safe riding, road safety awareness, traffic laws and basic maintenance of tricycles.

Speaking at the completion of the programme in Lagos, Sales Head, Simba TVS 3Wheeler, Rajesh Kumar, said the programme is Simba Group’s flagship women’s empowerment programme and was borne from the Group’s desire to train women from underrepresented backgrounds, so that they have a chance to participate in this sector – a major employer in the country – and increase their household income.

Kumar said the Simba training school, which also conducts advanced mechanic courses has provided training to these riders, free of cost.
He said after the women are trained and certified, they also connected with various tricycle fleet owners and microfinance institutions so that they have a better chance of availing these micro-entrepreneurship opportunities.

Present at the ceremony were the Zonal Head, VIS, Ejigbo Zone, Joshua Solawon; Representative of LASTMA, Mrs. Nike Ogunbadejo; a certified Simba TVS Queen Rider Trainer, Mrs. Grace Oladapo, and other senior executives of Simba TVS.

Also participating were graduates of the programme as well as representatives from the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Ejigbo Branch.
