VC calls for PPP to solve accommodation challenges in FUNAAB

Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Oyewole has called for public-private partnership to solve the accommodation problem confronting the institution.

Oyewole who identified inadequate hostel accommodation as one of the major challenges confronting the university said although efforts are being made to address this, he said public-private partnership would go a long way in checking the trend.

The vice chancellor made the plea at the matriculation ceremony of the institution where 3,900 out of the 4,200 students screened were admitted for various courses.

The Don specifically commended Soniyi Abosede Aramide and Aquocha Blessing Chiamaka (Biochemistry) who scored 301 and 324 respectively in the 2016/ 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

He urged the new students to be law abiding warning that anyone who fails to comply with acceptable norms and practices would be sanctioned.

Oyewole assured that the university will continue to monitor student activities in order to maintain peace on the campus even as he enjoined the new entrants to report any case of “harassment and undue pressure from any person or group to the appropriate authorities.”

According to him, FUNAAB is committed to providing a conducive environment for intellectual, physical and moral development.

“We will continue to maintain transparency consultative stance and treat students with genuine grievances with dispatch”

The Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University, Makogi Oba, Ogun State who delivered the matriculation lecture noted that “University education is a sine-qua-non for freedom against lack, poverty, disease and remedy for low per capital income and poor condition of living.”
