As part of activities to celebrate the World Breastfeeding Day and meet its corporate and social responsibilities, the Vitafoam Nigeria Plc has joined in the global and national efforts to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding to address the global decadence on the practice.

Besides, the frontline manufacturing company has specifically breastfeeding packs to address a range of issues making it difficult for many nursing mothers to give adequate breastfeeding to their children.

Addressing journalists on the 2016 Breastfeeding Week, the Group Managing Director, Mr. Taiwo Adeniyi explained that many mothers abandon breastfeeding so early in babies due to discomfort with nursing in public, physical discomfort such as back pain and lack of societal acceptance.

According to him, these are genuine concerns requiring moral and societal support. Adeniyi said that as a proactive company that places premium on customer satisfaction, Vitafoam had designed and produced mother-and-baby friendly and affordable products.

He stated that the affordable products had been specially produced to help mothers and baby during pregnancy, birth and laceration. Adeniyi listed the products as Pregnancy Support Pillows, Baby Cots Breastfeeding Support Pack and Baby Play mates.

He said that Vita Foam also partners with the Lagos state government on the awareness programme. “We also work with the teaching hospitals, general hospitals, the pediatricians, on their various ante natal days to educate the expectant mothers on the need for breastfeeding,” Adeniyi.

The theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2016 is “Breastfeeding: a Key to Sustainable Development.”
