The Managing Director of the authorised dealer of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in Nigeria, Jetvan Automobile Limited, Oluwatobi Ajayi said the organisation has sold more than 150 sprinter buses in the country in the last few months, recording unexpected sales growth even in the face of economy downturn.

With the high roof option going for about N12.5 million, Ajayi, while speaking to journalist during a facility tour in Lagos, said that the vehicle is fast becoming a leading brand in its segment in Nigeria.

According to him, the organisation is even currently struggling to meet up with demand, believing that the brand will take over the market as soon as the nation’s economy stabilizses.

While other dealers in the country have raised concern over drop in vehicle sales, Ajayi attributed the reasons the German made vehicle is recording unimaginable sales growth to the agility of the vehicle, which he said fits to nation’s road condition.

Ajayi added that the vehicle also offers much comfort including the space allowance for passengers and goods and the seating arrangement, which gives proper legroom and safety assurance.

To him, the vehicle gives part quality guarantee, helping users to cut cost and add value to customers.

“Vehicle breakdown issue is being addressed. Service interval also exceeds what is obtainable in the market. Other brands do 5,000km or three months but for MB we do 10, 000 or six months which ever comes first.

According to his claim, users may not service their vehicles more than, two times in a year, depending on frequency of use. “Most schools that use sprinter vehicle come here to service only two times in a year”, Ajayi said.

Though there are different variants, only the high roof is currently being sold in Nigeria.

In the aspect of service availability and affordability, Jetvan said it has opened ‘hub’ (service centers) in major cities across the country including Abuja, Asaba, Benin, Ijebu Ode, Lagos and others

Ajayi said the organisation also offers mobile workshop across the country to address vehicle repairs that demand urgent attention, adding the company offers its services at a competitive price.

He said the organisation, which has its headquarters in Lagos also lease luxury models of sprinter.
