Three more fleeing inmates from the Koton Karfe Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kogi State, who escaped the facility Monday morning, have been captured while seven remain on the run.
Responding to queries from The Guardian, authorities from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) said that three more inmates who were on the run have been recaptured and returned to custody.
According to the Service’s spokesman, Abubakar Umar, a search party made up of all security agencies, including local vigilantes, is in pursuit of the escaping inmates.
Umar said, “A search party has been deployed to all exit and entry routes in Kogi State. The search party is a combination of all the security agencies, including the local vigilantes, so that the inmates can be captured.”
Recall that the facility was breached in a prison break, leading to the killing of a correctional officer on duty and the escape of 12 Awaiting Trial Inmates (ATI).
