A Rundown Of Happenings This Week

Many thought last week to be the week they have been waiting for all their lives and this influenced their actions, but not the outcome.

From those who were acting out a film series to those asking for a fair chance at greatness, here is a rundown of the week

“Super-Hot Asun”
Nigerian-American rapper Wale has pledged to serve “super hot asun to the Oyingbo” if he replaces Ellen DeGeneres as the host of embattled The Ellen DeGeneres Show. A part of his plan is to host Nollywood film stars Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme, better known as Aki and Pawpaw respectively, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The duo especially Pawpaw has been trending through memes on other social media platforms globally since 2019. In fact, Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty in 2019, featured a clip of Pawpaw as a meme for its product.

Prison Break
What extent will a mother go for her child even if he is a danger to society? We found out this week after a mother tried to single-handedly dig her way into jail in Ukraine to free her murderer son. The 51-year-old woman rented a house near the jail in the southern Zaporizhia region where her son is serving a life sentence. She then used shovels and pickaxes in order to dig a deep tunnel in a nearby field to under the prison walls. She had dug for three weeks before she was caught and arrested. The woman won a lot of admiration from Ukrainians.

To prenup or not to?
In “The Next Episode” of Dr. Dre’s divorce, his wife of 24 years, Nicole Young, who wants to “forget about Dre” is facing a lot of stumbling blocks on her path to freedom and I mean, $400M. In the new documents presented to the court, she is claiming that she “unwillingly” signed “a premarital agreement or he would not marry me.” Three years later, the rapper “felt ashamed he had pressured me” and tore up the prenuptial agreement as a “grand gesture of his love”. However, Dr. Dre is claiming that he “never expressed shame over the prenup and he never tore it up or said it was invalid.”

You were saying?!
Right after Queen Beyoncé released the visuals to her “Lion King: The Gift” album, it has received mixed reviews with some praising her for her appreciation of Africa; some for “Illuminati” display and now, her choice of artists. Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale slammed a Metro TV presenter for negative comments about his feature, “Already,” with the international music star. An old video that surfaced online sees the Metro TV presenter identified as Jackie saying “but she (Beyonce) didn’t even choose well.” In reaction to the video, Shatta Wale blasted the presenters as “fools” and blamed pride as the reason why Ghanaian media doesn’t go far.

Banana Island
In the early hours of Sunday, social media users woke up the news that On-Air Personality, Toke Makinwa’s mansion in Banana Island had been seized by Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON). It turns out that Makinwa lives in Ikoyi and has no home in Banana Island. She further made moves to sue a handle with the name DaddyGO who started and later deleted the rumour. She also claimed he is being investigated by the police. In the tweet, she wrote, “The energy you put into spreading false stories should be the same energy you use to clarify and retract same,” she wrote in part.
