DJ Hol Up made waves recently with his new single entitled Available, featuring Rivers State born artiste, 1da Banton. The song, which was accompanied with a crisp video, connected the artiste with more music fans in his US base, Nigeria and other African countries.
According to the New York-born act, his older brother, who was a DJ, has been his biggest influence.
“Back in the day, my older brother used to be a DJ. So, he would take me to his events and I would always play around with his DJ equipment. During those times, I never wanted to pursue DJ as career; I saw it as just a hobby. I always had a good ear for music and wanted to be a manager or A&R. But one day I made an Afrobeats mix and decided to post it on Soundcloud and it blew up. From there, I decided to try to perfect my craft and see how far I can go as a DJ. An Artiste Manager told me that when he lived in Mozambique, they used to always play my mixes at parties. That was memorable for me,” he enthused.
