BBNaija 2020 Recorded Over 900 Million Votes
Over 900 million votes were cast during the season 5 of Big Brother Naija reality TV show making it the biggest season ever since the series launched in 2006.
DSTV Nigeria, today announced on their twitter page: “#BBNaijaLockdown recorded over 900million votes across all voting platforms! We stan these fans!!!Raising hands”
The 71-day show ended on Sunday with Laycon emerging the winner of N85 million worth of prizes. The rapper broke the record of earning the highest votes in the show’s finale with 60% of the total votes cast. This is the first time any BBNaija housemate would win with such a huge margin at over 50%.
Born Olamilekan Agbeleshe, the 26-year-old rapper and graduate of Philosophy from the University of Lagos, released his second EP “Who Is Laycon?” prior to his entry into the house.
In a tweet, GOTV tagged the season 5 also known as Big Brother Naija: Lockdown as “the biggest and most successful season yet”.
Season 5 floored all previous seasons by total votes and grand prize which includes; N30m cash prize, a two-bedroom apartment, Dubai trip for two, SUV from Innoson Motors, trip to Dublin, a trip to watch the UEFA Champions League finale, home appliances courtesy of Scanfrost, one year supply of Indomie noodles, Munch it chin-chin and Colgate toothpaste, one year supply of Pepsi and branded chiller, brand new Oppo mobile smartphone among other mouth-watering prizes.
The 2019 season, also known as Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem recorded 240 million votes with ₦60 million worth of prizes.
