Britney Spears has claimed that Justin Timberlake initiated their breakup in 2002 via text message. The revelation was made in her new memoir, “The Woman in Me,” which was released on October 17, 2023.

Spears wrote in her book that she was “devastated” and considered quitting the music industry after Timberlake broke up with her via text. She also claims that he was “happily running around Hollywood” while she was “comatose in Louisiana.”

Timberlake and Spears dated for three years before breaking up in 2002. Their breakup was highly publicized, and there was much speculation about the reasons behind it. At the time, Timberlake claimed that they had simply grown apart.

However, Spears’ claims in her memoir suggest that the breakup was more complicated than that. She writes that she was “blindsided” by Timberlake’s decision to break up with her via text message, and that she felt “humiliated” and “embarrassed.”

Timberlake has not yet commented on Spears’ claims. However, his fans have taken to social media to defend him, arguing that he is a good person and that he would never intentionally hurt Spears.
