The controversy began earlier this week when the 32-year-old rapper, born Belcalis Cephus, posted a sponsored ad with Shein.
Some followers expressed surprise, with many speculating she was relying on brand deals to maintain her lifestyle.
In a voice note shared on X, Cardi B dismissed the rumours, saying, “People say that I’m surviving off Shein deals and brand deals – wait, hold on. I want to let y’all know I could wake up tomorrow, sign a contract, and have half of $65 million – or half of $70 million – in my bank.”
She continued, stressing that her financial stability is unquestionable, adding, “I spend about $3 million in a month.”
To back her statement, Cardi B shared a screenshot of a text message detailing an alleged tour deal from September.
The proposed deal included a payment of $1 million per show, amounting to $65 million, with half the money to be paid upfront upon signing.
The rapper clarified the timeline, emphasising, “That was in September of this year, not old shitt. And mind you, this my off year by the way.”
