Chidimma Adetshina Deletes X Account for Mental Health
Chidinma Adetshina, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, has deleted her X account for the sake of her mental health.
Recall that Chidimma withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest because of her nationality. Born to a Nigerian father in Soweto, Chidimma Adetshina was subjected to weeks of xenophobic attacks on social media after she made the final cut for the Miss South Africa beauty contest.
Despite her wins as Miss Universe Nigeria, it seems South Africans won’t let her be. They have taken it personal as the 23-year-old queen constantly faces backlash because of her identity.
A report surfaced from the South Africa Department of Home Affairs, DHA, and according to them, Chidimma’s mother committed fraud and identity theft.

It was after all the drama on X that Adetshina decided she was done with X in order to clear her head.
“I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, so I read each and every comment; that’s the thing. So for me, I could spend 80% of my day reading comments. “I’d read the comments and all, and it became toxic for me.”
She also made mention that she is not totally off social media, as her fans and supporters can catch her on Instagram. “I use Instagram, but I did limit my comment section one time,” Adetshina wrote.
