A lot of people have confessed that their kitchen is their favourite place. It is not unusual to come across pictures on the internet or visit the kitchen of friends or relatives to take in the details of the interior decor.

Start by designing your kitchen with a budget in mind- whether you are redoing the entire kitchen or changing a few things, it is important to create a budget.

Designing a kitchen is an ever-evolving process that requires some skill because the way we use our kitchen is constantly changing. These days, kitchens are not strictly used for cooking, but it is also for dining and lounging.

  •       CONSIDER THE SHAPEAND SIZE OF YOUR KITCHEN: This stage is important because you are mostly thinking and becoming aware of what you are working with. So take in the shape of your kitchen: U-shape, L-shape, one-wall, and sizes: small, medium and large. Besides this, consider the structural elements.
  •       ENVISION THE DESIGN:After knowing your kitchen size and design, consider the flow of your kitchen-where your appliances will be kept. If you can, sketch it so that you can remember. Start by scribbling down all the features of your dream kitchen, and then include tangible ideas that a designer or a friend can help with.
  •       SEARCH FOR INSPIRATION:Knowing the design you would want for your kitchen can be tasking. Thankfully, Pinterest, Telegram, Quora, among others, have sections where you can get pictures, tips and tricks as well as help to figure out the elements you would want to incorporate into the space.
  •       THRIFT KITCHEN APPLIANCES:You do not have to break the bank to get the appliances you want. Take a visit to the thrift shop, where you can get exactly or close to what you want. Also, a trick to getting appliances at a better price is to check the price range or just window shop before you make your decision. But if there is a discount, indulge away.
  •       HIRE A CARPENTER:Do not overlook your next-door carpenter. If after searching for a particular design of cabinet or if you have a design in mind, sketch and give to your carpenter. One of the perks is the opportunity to bargain a more affordable amount at better quality, depending on your bargaining skill.
  •       PAINT WITH YOUR FAVORITE COLOUR: Your kitchen can easily be your escape comforting place if you make it feel like an intricate part of your home. It is important to choose colours that will ensure that the light reflects right. Most people prefer white. However, other options exist. The downside to white is the bugging need to repaint if something stains the wall. To make it fun, why don’t you call a few friends for a paint-and-drink?
  •       FRAME OR WALLPAPER: Make your picture stand out by putting a frame or wallpaper in your kitchen adds to the beauty of your kitchen. Choose the picture of a meal or even a kitchen quote to motivate you every time you go in.
  •       MIX WITH UNIQUE ITEMS: Items like expensive jars and ceramics will make your kitchen admirable and not tacky. Having these unique items will give people the thoughts that everything in your kitchen is delicate. Do not know where to find them? You can check your favourite malls, the markets or your favourite online kitchen thrift stores.
  •       KITCHEN FLOORING: Depending on the type of flooring you want, floor tiles add the pop to your kitchen. If you don’t want the wooden ones, you can go for the mixed tiles option. If preferred, mix the whole and broken tiles and get someone with an artistic eye to create a nice design.
